Serena
Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Masters of Occupational Therapy
Serena completed her Masters of Occupational Therapy at La Trobe University and is also a registered occupational therapist in the United States, where she previously worked in school-based practice. Her undergraduate degree is in Therapeutic Recreation, and she has additional training in Yoga and First Aid. In her years of experience as a therapist, Serena has supported children and young adults across a variety of educational settings.
For Serena, the most rewarding part of being an occupational therapist is supporting children to achieve meaningful goals, while discovering the activities and experiences that bring them joy. Serena takes a strengths-based, child-centred approach to therapy, believing that progress happens when children feel safe, understood and empowered. She enjoys getting to know each child's unique interests and using these to create engaging, goal-directed therapy sessions. Serena is particularly passionate about incorporating nature-based practices and movement into therapy, making sessions fun, motivating and purposeful.
In her free time, Serena loves hiking, walking, kayaking or swimming in the outdoors. She also enjoys dancing, practising yoga, and spending quality time with family and friends. If there's Thai or Mexican food on the menu, she's always happy!
