Music Therapy is an evidence-based allied health where Registered Music Therapists use a variety of tailored therapeutic musical methods to support the development of non-musical goals.
Our Music Therapy Team
Our music therapy team provide assessment and tailored therapeutic intervention for infants through to adolescents and their families, where there is a demonstrated love for music. Our Music Therapists can support the development, and health and wellbeing of children and young people, through the use of song writing, singing, music listening and sharing, and music creation.
Our Music Therapists support across the following areas:
Understanding, processing and expressing emotion
Emotional regulation
Parent/child relationships
Social-communication skills (turn-taking, expressive and receptive language, meaningful collaborative play)
Self-care skills through social stories/songs
Self-confidence and self-esteem
Identity formation and expression
Depression and anxiety management and reduction
Fine and gross motor development and coordination
Executive functioning (sustained attention and engagement, decision-making)
Our Music Therapists support infants, toddlers, children, adolescents and their families through:
Tailored 1:1 individual support with the child
Dyadic sessions with the parent and child
Parent sessions
Family work
Group interventions
Joint sessions with other allied health members (Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist)
