Andrea Thompson
Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist
Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy)
Andrea Thompson is a dedicated Physiotherapist who brings warmth, experience, and a deep appreciation for the “beautiful chaos” of childhood into her work with families. She completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at the University of Sydney and has spent the last two decades working across both public and private healthcare settings, including medical, surgical, women’s health, and mental health services.
Andrea’s journey into paediatrics was shaped by both her professional experience and her role as a mother. She has a strong passion for early intervention and supporting young children and their families. She has since undertaken further paediatric studies through Monash University and has also held leadership roles, managing allied health teams and supervising university students.
Andrea is particularly enthusiastic about working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, helping them build confidence in their movement and develop the skills they need to participate fully in everyday life. She takes a child-led approach to therapy, often incorporating activities like dancing, ball games, or imaginative play to create engaging and meaningful sessions.
She loves empowering families with the knowledge and tools to support their child’s physical development and wellbeing, and finds great joy in helping children feel capable, confident, and proud of what their bodies can do.
Outside of work, Andrea enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her two children, and loves heading off on weekend escapes or unwinding with a challenging puzzle. She also has a well-known sweet tooth, with a particular weakness for Chilean pastries and Portuguese tarts.
