Psychology and Mental Health

We provide a supportive Psychology and Mental Health Service for children and young people, their carers and families as well as their wider support networks. 

Our Psychology Team

Our psychology team provides assessment and therapeutic support across a wide range of emotional, behavioural, learning and developmental areas. Psychologists work with children, young people, families and schools to understand challenges, build skills, and support positive wellbeing across home, school and community environments. 

Our Psychologists support children and young people experiencing challenges such as: 

  • Adjustment to life changes 

  • Anger and emotional regulation 

  • Anxiety and worry 

  • Depression and low mood 

  • Friendship and peer relationship difficulties 

  • Grief and loss 

  • Identity development  

  • School can't or school-based anxiety 

  • Support navigating school environments 

  • Self-esteem and confidence 

  • Sleep difficulties 

Our psychologists also provide a range of assessments to support understanding of learning, development and cognitive functioning, including: 

  • Autism  

  • ADHD assessments 

  • Cognitive and learning assessments 

  • Educational assessments 

Our Mental Health Team

Our mental health clinicians are from a range of backgrounds who focus on functional support and daily engagement using a mental health lens. They have specialist training in supporting children and young people experiencing difficulties in the following areas: 

Our clinicians support children and young people experiencing: 

  • Persistent sadness 

  • Changes to social engagement or social withdrawal 

  • Thoughts of self-harm or harm to others 

  • Talk of death or suicide 

  • Risk-taking or harmful behaviours 

  • Significant changes in mood, behaviour or personality 

  • Changes in eating patterns or weight 

  • Sleep difficulties 

  • Difficulties with concentration 

  • Challenges attending or managing at school 

We also support families through: 

  • Family therapy 

  • Parenting strategies and coaching 

Please note we are unable to provide medication prescriptions or medication reviews.
