Literacy Group
Supporting your child's reading and spelling.
The purpose of this group is to support your child's literacy skill development including development of their letter-sound knowledge, phonological awareness, reading and spelling as well as oral language skills to support literacy success!
This program will be run by a speech pathologist and will use a systematic synthetics phonics approach (SoundsWrite) and incorporate multi-sensory approaches to learning to read and spell to support engagement. The group will be tailored to where your child is at with their language and literacy development, and will be matched for peers who have similar goals for reading and spelling.
The group will cover the following areas:
Print awareness
Phonological awareness including segmenting and blending, sound, syllable and and rhyme identification
Systematic phonics instruction through the SoundsWrite Program

In the group the therapist will lead activities such as shared book reading on the mat, reading and spelling activities at the table and practice of routines/transitions, with an opportunity for interaction with peers over snack!
