She is particularly passionate about working with babies and children with motor disorders (e.g. Cerebral Palsy, Acquired Brain Injury, Prosthetics etc.) Prior to joining the team at Splash Paediatric Therapy, Melyssa worked for the Department of Education in the Special School setting, as well as at Yooralla Children’s Services, providing support to children aged 4 to 18 years with developmental, complex physical and medical conditions. In these settings she particularly gained expertise in the use of technology to help the child’s independence and participation in the home, community, or school setting, including prescription of basic to complex aides and equipment. Melyssa has also worked in the Early Childhood Intervention setting at Noah’s Ark, supporting families in the community and home environments. In addition, Melyssa is a co-author of a chapter for the text book “Assistive Technology to Support Inclusive Education” for children with additional needs. Hollie studied at Curtin University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) in 2013. Hollie’s prior work experiences include her work as an OT in Rocky Bay, WA within the children’s therapy team, working with children from 0- 12 years of ages with developmental delays and disabilities. In this role, she worked within the child’s home, school and within the community. During this time, she completed an intensive Wheelchair Seating course. Hollie has experience in special school settings in London with children experiencing mild to complex physical and cognitive disabilities to ensure that they could access, participate and engage in their everyday school-based activities. As a senior clinician, Katherine has cultivated in-depth knowledge and experience within paediatric practice. A strong advocate for evidence-based and holistic care, she believes in combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion, support and a child-centred approach, to help children of all ages and diverse needs achieve their individual goals. Katherine has contributed to the profession through the publication of research and her experience in university teaching. Within Splash, she has also played a key role in supporting project development, building partnerships with the broader multi-disciplinary community and educational settings, coordinating student placements and contributing to the team through clinical leadership. Lauren is experienced in working with children across the age range, and has a particular focus of increasing the clients independence in their self-care skills as they grow and develop. She began working in pediatrics immediately after graduating, as she knew this was her passion and area of interest in Occupational Therapy. Paige builds a lovely rapport with the kids and parents she works with. She has an interest in children with fine motor delays and their handwriting difficulties, as well as children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. However, she feels that as long as she is helping the child to become as independent as possible with their OT goals, she loves working with any children who come to see her! Paige has previous experience working within the ABA framework, supporting children with mild to severe behavioural difficulties which further enhances her skills to manage challenging situations in therapy sessions. Prior to becoming an Occupational Therapist, Paige worked as a Support Worker/Carer for a range of clients including adults and children with various delays and disabilities.
